I am bound by the law and by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists code of ethics to keep all information that you communicate and share confidential. I take this responsibility very seriously.

As with many laws there are a few exceptions. I am mandated by the law to break confidentiality if a client shares they are going to harm themselves or someone else. I will then take necessary action to guarantee safety. Further, if a client reports child or elder abuse, I am required to make a report to the appropriate agency.
